Kailash Mansarovar Yatra: A Sacred Journey Through Nepal and Tibet
Embark on the spiritually transformative Kailash Mansarovar Yatra, beginning in Kathmandu, Nepal, where you will complete essential Chinese visa formalities and visit iconic UNESCO World Heritage Sites such as Bhaktapur Durbar Square, Swayambhunath Stupa (Monkey Temple), and the sacred Pashupatinath Temple.
Cross into Tibet via Kyirong, gradually acclimatizing to the high-altitude Tibetan Plateau as you journey through dramatic landscapes, halting at Saga and the revered Lake Mansarovar. Take a purifying holy dip in Mansarovar, believed to cleanse sins and bring inner peace.
Proceed to Darchen, the base for your Mount Kailash Parikrama—a life-changing three-day trek around the sacred Mount Kailash, considered the spiritual center of the universe by Hindus, Buddhists, Jains, and Bon followers. Trek through Deraphuk, cross the challenging Dolma La Pass (5,655 meters), and descend into Zuthulphuk, surrounded by breathtaking Himalayan beauty and deep spiritual energy.
Conclude your Kailash Yatra by retracing your route via Kyirong, including a stop at Chakadosok Monastery, before returning to Kathmandu. This soul-stirring pilgrimage offers a profound blend of spiritual awakening, natural grandeur, and ancient cultural heritage across the sacred landscapes of Nepal and Tibet.
Day 01: Arrive in Kathmandu – Chinese Visa Process Begins
Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu, our representative will greet you with a warm welcome and escort you to your hotel. After check-in, proceed to the Chinese Visa Centre to initiate your Tibet visa process for the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra. If biometric formalities aren’t completed today, they will be done the next morning. Guests must report to the visa center by 9:30 AM. Spend the rest of the day relaxing or exploring the capital. Overnight in Kathmandu.
Day 02: In Kathmandu – Biometric & Bhaktapur Excursion
After breakfast, return to the Chinese Visa Centre if required. Later, enjoy a guided visit to Bhaktapur Durbar Square, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, famous for its medieval architecture, temples, and vibrant Newari culture. This cultural visit sets the tone for your spiritual journey to Mount Kailash. Overnight in Kathmandu.
Day 03: Explore Kathmandu – Cultural Heritage Tour
Post breakfast, embark on a full-day guided tour of Kathmandu’s religious sites. Visit Kathmandu Durbar Square, Swayambhunath Stupa (Monkey Temple) with its panoramic views, and Patan Durbar Square, known for its artistic courtyards and temples. This day offers deep insight into Nepal’s spiritual traditions, a prelude to your pilgrimage. Overnight in Kathmandu.
Day 04: Spiritual Temple Visits (Without Guide)
After breakfast, visit Pashupatinath Temple, one of the holiest Hindu shrines, followed by Boudhanath Stupa, one of the largest stupas in the world and a major Tibetan Buddhist pilgrimage site. A private vehicle and chauffeur are provided; however, no guide accompanies you today. Free time to prepare for the Kailash Yatra. Overnight in Kathmandu.
Day 05: Drive to Kyirong (2,700 m) – Scenic Himalayan Border Crossing
Start early at 5:00 AM for your drive to Kyirong on the Nepal-Tibet border. The 7–8 hour journey features beautiful Himalayan landscapes. Upon arrival in Kyirong, check into your hotel and acclimatize to the increasing altitude. Overnight in Kyirong.
Day 06: Drive to Saga (4,840 m) – Into the Tibetan Plateau
After breakfast, continue deeper into Tibet’s high-altitude plateau on a 5-hour drive to Saga, a key stopover for Kailash Yatris. Observe the dramatic shift in scenery as you enter the heart of Tibet. Overnight in Saga.
Day 07: Drive to Mansarovar Lake – Visit Chui Gompa (435 km / 7–8 hrs)
Today’s long drive takes you to the holy Lake Mansarovar, revered in Hinduism, Buddhism, and Jainism. En route, soak in the mesmerizing views of Tibet’s vast plateau. Visit Chui Gompa, a tranquil monastery near the lake. Overnight near Lake Mansarovar.
Day 08: Holy Dip at Mansarovar – Drive to Darchen (4,560 m)
Begin the day with a sacred dip in Lake Mansarovar, believed to cleanse sins and bring spiritual awakening. After breakfast, head to Darchen, the base for the Mount Kailash Parikrama. Enjoy your first full view of Mt. Kailash, the spiritual center of the universe. Overnight in Darchen.
Day 09: Trek to Deraphuk Gompa (4,900 m) – 16 km
After breakfast, drive to Tarboche, the starting point of your Mount Kailash trek. Begin your 16 km trek along the Lha Chu Valley with Mt. Kailash towering above. Reach Deraphuk Gompa, a key rest stop for pilgrims. Overnight in a basic guesthouse.
Day 10: Trek to Zuthulphuk via Dolma La Pass (5,655 m) – 16 km
This is the most challenging day of the Kailash Kora. Start early, ascending to the sacred Dolma La Pass, the highest point of the trek. Descend past Gauri Kund, a sacred lake, and continue to Zuthulphuk. The 8–9 hour trek is spiritually and physically intense. Overnight in Zuthulphuk guesthouse.
Day 11: Complete Parikrama – Drive Back to Saga (465 km / 8–9 hrs)
Trek for 2–3 hours to complete your Mount Kailash Parikrama. Rejoin your vehicle at Darchen and drive back through the Tibetan plateau to Saga. Reflect on your transformational pilgrimage experience. Overnight in Saga.
Day 12: Drive to Kyirong – Visit Chakadosok Monastery (280 km / 5 hrs)
After breakfast, head back to Kyirong. En route, stop at Chakadosok Monastery, a peaceful site offering cultural insight and scenic views. Continue your journey and check in at Kyirong. Overnight in Kyirong.
Day 13: Return to Kathmandu via Rasuwa Border (185 km / 7–8 hrs)
After breakfast, proceed to the Rasuwa border post. Complete immigration formalities and continue your drive back to Kathmandu. Upon arrival, relax and enjoy the comfort of your hotel. Overnight in Kathmandu.
Day 14: Departure from Kathmandu
After breakfast, you will be transferred to Tribhuvan International Airport for your onward flight, marking the end of your Kailash Mansarovar spiritual journey. Hotel check-out is at 12:00 PM.

As Mount Kailash and Lake Manasarovar is situated at high altitudes please start exercises like walking, jogging, yoga and other breathing exercises in order to have a successful trip
Insurance:
Kindly get yourself a medical insurance for this trip. Please make sure you cover yourself for emergency evacuation (helicopter) in the insurance.

Please arrange water bottle Thermos flask for hot water (1/2 litter), Torch light /batteries, Dusk masks/face masks and wet/dry Tissue as required

As all the tour programs are conducted strictly under the rules and regulations of Tibet Tourism Bureau (TTB) And China India pilgrimage service centre (CIPSC)and will not be accountable for any changes due to change of official rules and laws of Tibet.
